BEAUTY therapist Selena Blain opened her salon, Cocoon, in Darlington, just over a year ago, and what a busy year it’s been for her.

Selena returned to her roots after a five-year stint in London where she counted stars such as Dannii Minogue, former Eternal singer Louise Redknapp and the Sugababes among her high-profile clients.

Opening her own salon in Coniscliffe Road certainly seemed like a gamble at first, as it involved investing a large amount of cash into transforming a former delicatessen into an oasis of calm. But the salon has been busy right from the word go.

“Our first year in business has been brilliant,” says Selena.

“We’ve been run off our feet, which is great considering the current financial climate. We’re lucky, we’ve got a lot regular clients who come back again and again.”

Selena and her two colleagues specialise in the Dermalogica skincare system and offer a service totally tailored towards the individual needs of their customers. Treatments include facials, massage, body treatments, waxing, hands and feet, tanning and treatments for men.
