Event Highlights

Northern Coast and Countryside Exhibition, Lockwoods Restaurant, Ripon

LOCAL photographer Kirstie Handley, pictured, has spent the past few years focusing on North-East culture, its people and its landscape, following an early career in press photography.

“My intention is to try to ‘freeze’ a moment through my camera using emotions and feelings inspired by what I see,” she says.

“The magnificence and drama of the North-East coast and neighbouring landscape has a strong influence on the character, energy and strength of the people who live close to it. I attempt to capture this spirit and it is my profound hope that I present it to an audience who can then re-live their own precious slice of this great landscape.”

Now a limited edition prints exhibition at Lockwoods Restaurant in Ripon is taken from a body of work Kirstie has created over the past few years while travelling across the North of England.

Kirstie Handley’s work has achieved critical acclaim in the British Journal of Photography. The exhibition will run until the end of July. For further details go to lockwoodsrestaurant.co.uk or kirstiehandley.com
