Elachi, Crook & Newton Aycliffe

12:30pm Monday 23rd March 2009

A winning formula has brought a new Indian restaurant to north Durham.

The long-time success of the Elachi restaurant in Newton Aycliffe convinced owner Hosam Uddin to extend the brand – and brought the recent opening of the new branch in Crook.

Elachi was born after Hosam, having gained experience in the trade, wanted to establish a superb and comfortable restaurant serving only the highest quality Indian cuisine. The formula proved a hit after Elachi's opening in 2006, leading to the expansion in Crook.

With staff relocated from Newton Aycliffe to lead the way, the same high standards have already been winning approval from the customers. Topnotch service brings to the table such delights as chef's specialities Hariali – lean chicken marinated and barbecued over the tandoor, cooked with fresh garlic, ginger, chilli, cream and spinach – or the enticing berry sundar – tender chicken cooked with mild spices in a rich, creamy sauce, with the added flavour of fresh juicy strawberries.

The chefs have their own style, their own particular way of cooking, and that brings with it a uniqueness that makes Elachi its own. The building has been thoroughly decorated and the bar completely replaced, bringing a fresh, clean atmosphere to go with the fresh, friendly service.

You can also enjoy Elachi food at home, delivered to your door or with a 10 per cent discount if you collect it from the restaurant.

All in all, it's a winning combination.
