THE Thirsk Chamber of Trade Ladies' Group held their annual black tie dinner dance and raised more than £5,000.

The event was held at Solberge Hall and was an evening of games, a raffle, an auction, food and dancing.

The auction was led by Tarek Ghouri who helped all items reach their best prices. The auction prizes on offer included three holidays in Tuscany, Madeira and Spain as well as clay pigeon shooting, quad bike racing and pony trekking.

The auction raised more than £3,500 and the evening as a whole raised £5,200 towards the Thirsk Christmas lights.
