THE parents and supporters of a small village school held a ball to raise funds.

The event, at Darlington Football Club’s Northern Echo Arena, raised £1,950 for Bishopton/Redmarshall C of E Primary School and Bishopton Pre-School.

Angela Swinbank, a committee member of the schools’ parent and friends association, said: “This was quite an achievement considering the school only has 82 children from 56 families.”

The evening was organised by Sharon Brown, chairwoman of the school’s PFA, and the PFA committee. Guests enjoyed a three-course dinner and dancing and raffle contributions were made by a number of local firms, including John Wade and Ashdale Hotels. Taylor Wimpey donated £500.
